How Does Health & Wellness Coaching Differ from Personal Fitness Training?
This is the question I am most frequently asked. While personal fitness training exercises your body, your Health & Wellness Coach recruits your brain to the cause, addressing physical and mental wellness together. JansenFit Health & Wellness Coaching helps clients develop and realize personal plans & goals in all domains of wellness.
The frustrating experience of good intentions gone awry is almost universal among any of us who have ever tried to achieve new heights, or make an important lifestyle change. If you have ever tried to give up a bad habit (smoking, over-eating or unhealthy-eating, procrastination, sedentary behaviors…) and fallen off the wagon, you know that it’s not enough to know what to do, the trick is in actually sustaining the new behavior long enough for it to become a lifestyle.
That’s where your Health & Wellness Coach comes in. Your trained and certified Health & Wellness Coach knows how important it is to meet you exactly where you are and has the skills to do just that. No matter where you are now, your JansenFit coach knows and honors your natural drive to be well and leading a life of value and consequence. Tapping into that natural drive is where most of us get stuck. Your Health & Wellness Coach is trained to help you connect with your inner motivation and deepest desires. Think of your coach as your personal life counselor whose sole purpose is to empower you to realize your dream.
Think of your coach as your personal life counselor whose sole purpose is to empower you to realize your dream…
Our goal is profound lifestyle change that raises your wellness to levels that, until now, you hadn’t thought possible.
Your coach asks you to take charge, as she guides you in defining your higher purpose for wellness, your personal strengths and your innate motivation. Your coach helps you draw your wellness vision and road-map, and supports you throughout your health and wellness journey.
Your Health & Wellness Coach listens thoughtfully, seeking out your strengths, values, and desires. Your coach will engage playfully with you at times but will also take risks and ask courageous questions. She won’t rescue you from your fears and anxieties but will walk side-by-side with you as you navigate to the other side. Our goal is profound lifestyle changes that raises your wellness to a level that, until now, you hadn’t thought possible.
If you have ever struggled with motivation, ever found yourself on the diet yo-yo, or ever been the not-so-proud owner of a seriously underused fitness membership, why not give coaching a try? No long-term obligations allowed here; just real support from someone who’s been where you are and knows the way out.

Where do we start? We meet and talk. No up front fees. No contracts to sign. We get to know each other, discuss your needs, schedule and budget. We take small steps, adjust, and move forward.
Logistically, training happens in the gym (or home gym), in the pool, or with meditation—on the cushion. Coaching happens in the living room—literally, where we live. Coaching sessions occur wherever you are most comfortable – your place, my place, over the phone or via Skype.
Whatever works for you. Client meetings are typically more frequent at first, once or twice per week, and less frequent later—twice a month, then once a month, followed by periodic check-ins.
There are a lot of variables, including meeting frequency, location (your place, my place, Skype or Zoom) and session length. Your plan is unique—unlike any other. Prices are quoted at initial consultation, which is always free.
